2010 World Rivers Day

The Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Society held its 9th Annual BC Rivers Day celebration at the Chilliwack Fish and Game Protective Association club house.

About 240 volunteers participated in a major river bank cleanup from 9:30 – 12:30, a great BBQ, Blue Grass band entertainment, stewardship displays and lots of prizes.

Over 3.1 metic tonnes of garbage was removed from river bank areas. Our Directors are always amazed at the diligence of our volunteers and the type of garbage collected. This was our 30th River Cleanup since 2002 and some of our volunteers have attended every one of them. Amazing and what dedication to the welfare of this great recreational area!

Pictures of the 2010 event and other cleanups can be seen on our Media Archive section.
